Duct Cleaning Regulations Bath
Legal requirements to clean your ventilation systems
In 1992 the government brought in the Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) regulations. These come under the auspices of the Health and Safety executive and the regulations mean that the owners and managers of buildings used for workplaces must ensure all enclosed areas are ventilated with fresh air. More importantly it requires that wherever this fresh air is supplied via any ductwork system (such as air conditioning) that the entire system is cleaned regularly.
This regulation means that the owner or manager of a building is culpable in the eyes of the law should any injury or illness among the employees or users of the building caused by the ventilation.
Because of this, it is always best to be overly-scrupulous in cleaning your ductwork out. Ensuring that there any dirt and debris is cleaned out regularly rather than waiting for a problem to occur.
